I can do what????

Well, on the weekend I learned a valuable lesson.. What you may ask was that? To which I resond, actually 2 lessons were learned, one good, one bad... The first one was that I learned how to fix a leaky tap all by myself!! I know, simple, but I did it, and it worked beautifully. The second lesson, was that Bunnings Wharehouse is a right royal pain in the ass.. 2 hours it took me to get a tap wrench thing to help in the fixing of the aforementioned taps, a bucket (a nice royal blue one to go with the royal pain in the ass I was experiencing), 2.5m of fly screen, and to find out that although they say they carry the security screen door in stock, they have to order it in from the company. 2 Bloody Hours for Jack!!!!! I had to get a guy paged to come and cut my fly screen, and I won't tell you how long that took, first FINDING SOMEONE to come and cut it for me, then for them to tell me that there is already someone working down there, and then for me to not be able to find this mysterious person who theoretically worked there, to them FIND SOMEONE ELSE and have them tell me the same thing, and then they offered to page them... So I had to wait for the invisible man to appear and cut my 2.5m of screen (he did it pleasantly though). The door that wasn't in stock took forever too...Had to find another guy....Bloody hell. I hate Bunnings....

I heard back from the second paper I submitted a while ago... It wasn't nearly as positive as the last one though.. They rejected it and told me to resubmit later when it was up to snuff. Fair call though. I read the comments and they were right, but it is a good learning thing for me though... I'm not an expert in that field (biophysical interactions of peptides and lipids using circular dichroism and surface plasmon resonance), and the reviewers are. So I am now in the middle of fixing my paper to send to them again.... Well once I finish writing here I guess... And I finish my freshly ground coffee... Maybe.

I gave a draft of the 1st third of my literature review to one of my supervisors about a week or so ago. Honestly, I was a bit nervous about the whole thing. It was literally my first draft and I didn't really know how I should be tackling it, but she gave it back today, and said that she really liked it!!! She's a sweet woman who I now know lies well!!!

Anywasy though, nice talking to you again, I should really be running now though...
Cheers.

Yay for me!

I know it's been a little while, but since there's none of you to read this, it doesnt' really matter now does it.

I have had a few interesting things happen over the past little while, which I'll share with you...

Interesting fact #1: Today's not Tuesday, but Wednesday. Yes I am writing on a Wedesday, not Tuesday.

Interesting fact #2: Well, 2 Fridays ago (April 14th), I heard back from one of the papers I submitted (see earlier post), and I was a little disapointed that they didn't think it deserved a Nobel prize, but the did say that it was professionally thought out and alot of other nice compliments. Most importantly though, the revisions they suggested were so minor, I had them all done by the end of the morning!! So it's been re-submitted and soon to be published, and since I know how much you all care about my research into potential peptide treatment of autoimmune diseases based on inhibition of the T cell antigen receptor, it'll appear later this year in BBA - Molecular Cell Research, and the article is titled:

"Lipidation and Glycosylation of a T-cell Antigen Receptor (TCR) Transmembrane Hydrophobic Peptide Dramatically Enhances in vitro and in vivo Function" and authored by: Michael A. Amon (Me!!) , Marina Ali, Vera Bender, Yiu-Ngok Chan, Istvan Toth and Nicholas Manolios"

So I'm pretty stoked about that!!!

Interesting fact #3: I have also been having trouble sleeping at night, so to take up the time when I probably should be sleeping, I play on my computer recording and mixing music. I did 2 final mixes, which means that I have two songs fully done, and started mixing a third! I will have to come up with a drum beat for the third though, and considering I don't play drums very well, nor have imagination with drums, that'll take me some time. The new number is called "Don't Ask" and is me dealing with the drug related death of my brother, Christopher Ryan Amon, a few years ago. His website is one of my links (Amon World) and I think you should go there... Now, what the hell are you waiting for? You can always come back here later and be bored...

No more interesting facts.

Last week, I was voted onto my Baha'i communities LSA with the largest number of votes from the community... For you who do not know what the Baha'i Faith is, please do yourself a favour and click on the link "The Baha'i Faith" at the top of the page, or post a comment to that effect and I'll get back to you as soon as possible, I promise!. It's basically the most recent world religion (started in 1844) following the progression from ... Moses, Jesus Christ, Mohammud, and the most recent prophet, Baha'u'llah. It's central premise is "Unity" like all religions are from the same (and only) God, it's just that they are for a set time in our spiritual development. You can see this by looking at the central RELIGIOUS tenents, as they haven't really changed (love thy neighbour). But for some reason, the community where I live, thinks that I would serve them well in an administration position! Within the Baha'i Faith, you are not allowed to campaign at all for yours, or anyone elses, election, instead, you are required to vote for the nine Baha'i's over 21 who you think would best serve your community. Crazy stuff that is, so I guess I really have to do some good Baha'i work this year....

I really should get back to work....

Paranoid are we?

Well what can I tell you that you don't already know?
Nothing really so I'll just talk....
There's something about Tuesdays that make me want to sit and write... Maybe I should change the name of this blog to Tuesday's child or something gay like that!

Something kind of annoying happened to me the other week. Actually after I had sat and thought about it, I got pretty disappointed at this girl for being a bit stupid, arrogant, and entirely self-centered...

I had to go to this meeting that I helped instigate, it was going alright except that an incident happened where someone (more than one maybe) was made to feel pretty shitty for a petty reason which I won't explain because it has little to no relevance. So I go to the meeting, change the way it was run a little bit, and by little bit, I mean it, basically going from having a steady chair person to a rotating one which was needed because the regular chair has other commitments and was not able to make all the meetings. That's it!! That's all I had to do, steady chair person, to rotating chair person. This was done not to single anyone out as being a problem because that was not the intention, and after I had said my bit, answered a few questions, everyone there thought that it was ok and the meeting progressed nicely. Later in the evening, the girl who was the steady chair person gets there, so I repeated what I had said earlier, that the meetings would be now run on a rotating chair person system. She did not speek for the rest of the night.

Next morning, happily sleeping, the phone rings at 7am. I would like to repeat this: SEVEN BLOODY AM!! My wife is (was) sleeping, my 3 year old son is (was) sleeping, and I was sleeping. I actually thought that the phone call was important since telemarketers don't usually call that early, so I raced up to answer it. Low and behold it was the girl from last night. She then proceeds to tell me that I was wrong in who organized the meetings and then she tells me that they started because another lady called her and told her to start these meetings... Side note, me and this lady worked together to get this meeting running, something which pain-in-the-ass girl knows but somehow forgot. So I reminded her of this, after which I heard the "Oh" of someone who has just realized that they just said something stupid... Then she asks me several other questions all aimed at trying to get me to tell her that we are not happy with her and that we think she is an idiot, and we did this to teach her a lesson etc etc. None of which is true. She even agreed that the rotating chair-person was a good idea!!! So what the hell did she me at 7 AM IN THE MORNING FOR!!!!!! She had no reason to think that I was attacking her, and she agreed with everything that I had said the night before, and that morning on the phone with her...

WHAT'S YOUR BLOODY PROBLEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think I am going to go to another meeting this Thursday though, as before she arrived, I had a good time, and maybe she won't be there again.... Although I would like to tell her never to call me at 7am again.

I think that's probably enough for today though....
